The Commission for the Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy held its fourth evidence session online on Thursday 16 April focusing on counselling and psychotherapy, the future of the professions. The Commission considered issues facing the professions over the next decade including the emergence of new technologies, counselling and psychotherapy in the global context and our shared vision for the future.  

The Commission for the Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy held its third evidence session online on Thursday 19 February focusing on counselling and psychotherapy, the evidence base. Academics and researchers presented the strength of current research and evidence for counselling and psychotherapy. A discussion followed on the gaps and priority areas for more and new research to strengthen the case for investment and wider commissioning.

The Partnership of Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies (PCPB) has reached a significant milestone in its collective work, with all six partners having now fully implemented the SCoPEd framework.

The Commission for the Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy held its second evidence session online on Tuesday 2 December focusing on ‘Is there a case for statutory regulation?’. Commissioners and invited expert witnesses reviewed the adequacy of the current regulatory mechanisms for the professions in protecting clients and explored alternative models and the underpinning principles of statutory enhancement.

In October 2025, the Partnership of Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies (PCPB) established an independently chaired Commission for the Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
